Ellie Gibson and Helen Thorn specialise in producing and performing comedy for less-than-perfect parents - so that's all parents. They have an ever-growing social media following, with more than 85,000 Instagram followers.

Together they host one of the UK's most popular parenting podcasts. Launched in July 2013, it was an instant hit, and has since been downloaded 2 million times in more than 150 countries. The podcast has been recommended by The Telegraph, The Sunday Times, The Guardian and Woman’s Hour. Guests have included Dara O Briain, Sandi Toksvig, Jenny Eclair, and influencers such as Giovanna Fletcher, Unmumsy Mum and Hurrah for Gin. In 2017, Scummy Mummies was nominated for the UK's Best Comedy Podcast at the British Podcast Awards, along with Mixcloud and Lovies awards.

The Scummy Mummies also perform a hit live comedy show that celebrates the scummier side of parenting with sketches, songs, and top quality boob jokes. They perform to sell-out audiences and packed festival crowds around the country, usually wearing their trademark gold catsuits.

Their first book, Scummy Mummies, was released in March 2017 and reached the top 20 on the Amazon chart. It has since been reprinted three times. Ellie and Helen have also written for The Guardian, The Telegraph, Metro, Glamour, Red and more.

Television appearances include ITV's Lorraine, Good Morning Britain, Victoria Derbyshire, The Wright Stuff, Sky News, and in Australia, The Morning Show and Sunrise. The Scummy Mummies have also been guests on Radio 4's Woman's Hour, Broadcasting House, Gaby Roslin's BBC London show, and feature regularly on Radio 5 Live.

Corporate work includes conducting red carpet interviews for NOW TV at the National Television Awards 2017, and hosting and speaking at events for BAFTA Games, English Heritage, Sony PlayStation, The Baby Show, Stylist Live, Channel Mum and Mumsnet. The Scummy Mummies have also worked with brands such as Sainsbury's, Kleenex, Emirates, McCain, Birdseye, Natwest, Leesa, Bing, Mahabis, Hello Fresh and Gousto.

Ellie appears as the games expert on hit Dave show Dara O Briain's Go 8 Bit. She also presents the spin-off, Go 8 Bit DLC, and was the first woman ever to host a show on Dave.

Helen performed a sell-out run of her solo stand-up show, Thorny Questions, at the 2017 Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

Ellie Gibson

As well as doing comedy, Ellie Gibson is an award-winning video games journalist. She has worked in the industry for 15 years, including nearly a decade at Eurogamer, the UK's leading independent games website. She hosted BBC Technology series Tech Know for two years, and presented Radio 4 documentary Virtually Famous.

She was a talking head on Video Game Nation and Charlie Brooker's How Video Games Changed the World. Ellie was the games expert in all three series of Dave's show Dara O'Briain's Go 8-Bit. She also hosted the companion show Go 8-Bit DLC.

Ellie writes a monthly column for Eurogamer and is a regular contributor to Guinness World Records Gamer's Edition. She has also written for The Guardian and Vice. Her other TV and radio appearances include BBC Breakfast, Sky News, CNN, and Radio 5 Live.

Helen Thorn

Originally from Melbourne, Helen Thorn began performing comedy in 2003. The following year she reached the national final of RAW Comedy, Australia's most prestigious open mic competition. She also made it to the final of 2Day FM's Australian Comedy God competition, and was selected to perform in The Comedy Zone, a showcase for the country's best new talent.

Helen performed at the Melbourne Comedy Festival in 2005 and returned the following year with a one-woman show, Arty Farty. She was a regular panelist on Vulture, ABC's popular arts and culture show.

Helen also has a background in the arts, having organised and hosted events for the National Gallery of Victoria, the Venice Biennale, the Courtauld Institute, and the Arts Council. She has extensive presenting, writing, and broadcasting experience in the field.

Helen took a break to have children when she moved to the UK, returning to comedy in 2013. She continues to do solo spots alongside top headliners as well as performing in Scummy Mummies.
