Oscar winning movies, Emmy-nominated TV shows – Paul Alexander has watched them all. But occasionally he opens his laptop and does a bit of writing.

Paul was recently commissioned to write a movie screenplay 'From Me To You', by Gold Circle Films in LA. He has also just signed a first-look deal to create (in collaboration with Paul Mendelson) three new comedies for indie producer Sly Fox Productions. 

Other current projects include writing a musical with composer Glenn Keiles (who wrote the music for Paul’s TV series My Spy Family) and lyricist Penny Lane.

He has also continued to develop Yo Ho High, his comedy for CBBC for whom he recently reworked it for co-production (and shooting) in Brazil!  And he has also been creating some new standup material with (and for) Jasper Carrott.

In collaboration with Thom Southerland and Irving Berlin(!) Paul wrote a brand new musical The Smallest Show on Earth, which toured the UK at the end of 2015.

His previous theatre work includes revising the scripts for Radio Times: The Musical and for the Old Vic's production of Aladdin starring Sir Ian McKellen.

Past TV work includes the Emmy-winning Red Dwarf, the RTS award-winning My Parents Are Aliens and the BAFTA-winning Revenge Files of Alistair Fury.

For animation he co-created the Dreamworks TV show Neighbors from Hell, wrote several episodes of Horrid Henry and of Disney Channel's animated musical series Groove High.

Back in the the 'real' world, he spent a year toiling in the fields of Emmerdale as well as two years on the Green Green Grass, script editing John Sullivan's BBC1 sitcom. He also created (and wrote two dozen episodes of) the family sitcom My Spy Family for the Cartoon Network's 'Boomerang' channel.

Other TV credits include My Hero, Live of Riley, 2point4 Children, Goodnight Sweetheart, Lovejoy (BBC1); Miami 7, LA 7, Hollywood 7 and Viva S-Club (CBBC).

On the wireless, he co-wrote the BBC Radio 4 sitcom The Castle (four series) and the BBC Radio 2 sitcom Love 40 New Balls Please (three series) and his other movie screenplays include Staggered, which he also co-produced (and which picked up three awards including Best Film at the 14th International Festival Du Comedie at Vevey, Switzerland) and Seeing Double (the S-Club movie!).

Paul still hopes to win an Oscar and pass the Bechdel test (but not necessarily in that order).
