Dan was born in Colchester, Essex in the United Kingdom. Having excelled at literature and drama at school, Dan obtained a degree in media and filmmaking.

Initially, Dan became a freelance Avid editor working for the BBC, Paramount UK, Nickelodeon and Bravo until he made his first 16mm film 'Magician' which was well received by the arts community and enabled him to set up his own production company 'Magician Pictures'.

Dan's first projects were a documentary for Anglia Television, 'Cult Encounter' and a music magazine programme for Meridian TV, 'Academy'. Since then Dan has made a number of short drama films and worked on a diverse number of media projects, all leading up to his first feature film "Experiment".

Following the success of Experiment Dan was signed by US production company Shoreline Entertainment to direct a feature film adaptation of the best- selling novel 'Spanky'.

Dan went on to co-create and direct the award winning "Girl Number 9", a multi-platform thriller which aired on US and Australian TV.

During this time, Dan also adapted the Eric Morecambe novel "Mr Lonely" for Baby Cow Productions.

Following this he directed his second feature film, "Stormhouse", which was selected for the 2011 Edinburgh Film Festival. He then directed "The Man Inside", a semi-biographical boxing drama starring Peter Mullan, David Harewood, Ashley Thomas, and Michelle Ryan. The Man Inside was released in cinemas nationwide during summer 2012.

Dan is currently finishing his next feature film Learning to Breathe and beginning work on The Boy From Outer Space, a brand new feature film.
