Briony Redman

Briony is a writer and performer. She is writing on several feature film scripts including working with Damian Evans and Charlotte Gittins on Welsh crime comedy, Pont Brec that won the BAFTA Rocliffe Film Script Competition 2017. She is also developing a feature script with Creative England via the BFI NETWORK as part of their Emerging Talent Feature Film Development. Briony has previously been shortlisted for the BAFTA Rocliffe Comedy Script 2016, shortlisted for BAFTA Rocliffe New Writing Forum at the NYTV Festival 2012 and the Red Planet Picture Prize 2010. Briony has a writing partnership with writer-director Kate Herron. Briony and Kate were shortlisted for iFeatures 2014 and are currently working on their horror-comedy feature film, Miss Universe, which was developed as part of Film London’s Microwave 2016-17. Their short film, SMEAR, was described as “One of the best horror shorts to come out of this years Frightfest” (LoveHorror) and featured as ‘One of the Best Shorts at the 61st London Film Festival’ by Flickering Myth.  Briony and Kate are also developing a comedy series with Shiny Button Productions (Murder in Successville / Action Team). Briony has previously written additional material for BBC Radio 4 (Laura Solon: Talking & Not Talking and Laurence & Gus: Hearts and Minds). Briony wrote and acted in award-winning short film, Forget-Me-Not, that has screened internationally at festivals including Palm Springs Shortsfest 2014 and Aesthetica Short Film Festival 2014 (nominated for Best Comedy).

As a comedian Briony has taken a number of comedy shows up to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, including solo shows at The Pleasance (British Comedy Guide Recommended 2018, “Effortlessly feel-good,” The Skinny), comic play at Underbelly, Farce Noir: The Big Sheep, 2013 (“the script is positively soaked in wordplay” Fest) and double-act Surname and Surname 2013 (“An articulate sense of mischief” The Times). Briony is an experienced improviser that has guested in Questing Time, Suki Webster’s Guest Speaker, This is Your Trial (‘perfect bit of improv mayhem’ ***** Mirror) and the Chortle Award-winning Austentatious. She regularly performs with renowned improv company The Free Association (“The UK has an equivalent to the professionalised improv of Chicago’s Second City or Upright Citizens Brigade, the FA are it” Fest Mag).
